6 Ways To Better Moisturize Mature Skin

With age comes wisdom, knowledge, and even sometimes power. So make sure to count yourself blessed. Because it doesn't get much better than this. HOWEVER. And don't you know, there's always a however...

With age also comes those pesky little wrinkles, worry lines, and that super dry or flaky skin that just can't seem to get enough, when it comes to moisture.

But worry not my beautiful, puffy-peeps (in honor of Easter, of course). If we make it a point to take great care of ourselves, we'll get better with age, like those quality Antique Persian Rugs, just hanging out in Bazillionaire houses - Purr...

The majority of us that have reluctantly come to grips with the aging process like to call this, the trade-off. But don't let that scare you. Trade-offs can be good. So. Very. Good. BECAUSE it's proof that we've grown our calm and confidence, that most, only truly discover with age.

Enter happy/sad face here.😏

So when our skin ages with us, it's likely to bring challenges that these 6 pointers can help out with. So in the words of father time, bring it already...or um, maybe don't:

1. Using a good face cleansing gel or cream, we like (Oil-free Acne Cleansers with Salycilic Acid). Lather up and gently massage-clean the surface of your skin using circular motions with a warm-damp and textured wash cloth. The salycilic acid and texture of the cloth will help to exfoliate mature, flaky-dead skin. While the circular action combined with the  textured warm cloth will help generate more collagen. Making the skin super plump, slightly pink and more youthful over time.

Cautionary tale - never combine rubbing action with a granular facial scrub on the face, as this can cause more damage than good - leaving microscopic tears in the skin.

2. After cleansing, lightly pat dry excess moisture, leaving skin slightly damp before applying a quality day serum - ours is home-made (get instructions here), or buy your own here.

3. Then follow with a moisturizer, we like (Cera Ve' Daily Moisturizing Lotion) because of the ceramides and hyaluronic acid that help moisturize and restore the protective skin barrier. Allow a few minutes to penetrate.

4. Next warm a small amount of coconut oil between both hands and smooth over any areas on the neck and face that require more thirst quenching attention.

5. Finally, take another small dab of coconut oil, mix with your favorite spf tinted moisturizer or bb/cc cream and apply generously to face, neck and hands, (this stuff is too good to waste) gently patting as you apply. This will give mature skin a luminous, glassy glow. However, if you prefer not using a heavier oil during the day - complete steps 1-3 and save your coconut routine for end the day, as described in step 6.

6. Before hitting the sheets, remove soil and/or makeup while still keeping all things dewy, by dabbing your favorite coconut oil (or an oil similar to the one below  - I recently purchased mine in bulk for better savings) on neck and face, and gently massage. Then take your textured cloth, soak it with very warm water, ring out excess, and smooth the warmly dampened cloth over entire face.

Mmmm... in love. This stuff, this process...not a miracle, but too good... LuxieYou

*Always consult your doctor before starting any new skincare regimen. Those with fragile skin, wounds or sores, it's important to cleanse gently using soft material, a mild cleanser or coconut oil.
